EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of an honors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • An excellent grasp of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering, including practical experience across a range of products and industries
  • A minimum of two years design experience in the mechanical engineering field, with significant industry experience in CAD packages; particularly SOLIDWORKS and Inventor as well as FEA and calculations
  • Project engineering experience isn’t essential, but it’s a real bonus

We are a company of learners. Our Learning & Development program is at the heart of our mission to elevate New Zealand engineering, providing a comprehensive pathway for engineers to evolve from great engineers into world-class engineers.

Established to fulfill our company’s purpose—to enable New Zealand engineering to deliver world-class solutions and provide engineers with unparalleled experiences—our program is meticulously designed to meet the dynamic needs of the industry and our team members.

Through a blend of on-the-job experience, formal training, mentoring, and peer reviews, we fund 50 hours of learning and development for each engineer per year. Our program emphasises continuous growth, encouraging engineers to embrace learning as a core value and take charge of their professional development. By investing in our engineers, we’re not just preparing them for the challenges of today but equipping them with the skills and knowledge to lead and innovate for the future.

ROB WILLIAMS, Project Engineering Lead

Rob’s career has been shaped by diverse project experience, from heavy industry to hydrogen projects. Now a Project Engineering Lead at Caliber, he helps engineers develop technical and leadership skills that’ll help them grow as engineers and improve our service to clients.

ANGUS MCKAY, Technical Lead

Angus built his career through hands-on experience, starting at NZ’s aluminium smelter, where he was involved in projects from concept to completion. Now a Tech Lead at Caliber, he helps develop engineers through mentoring and supporting them in their work across diverse industries.

TIM PHILLIPS, Technical Lead

Tim is one of our longest serving employees. During his employemnt, Tim’s partner was seconded to work in Scotland for a year, so Tim continued to work for Caliber remotely. Tim is the model Caliber engineer. We wish we could clone him! Super smart, high EQ, growth mindset … he’s a great guy.

OTHNIEL CRESSY, Mechanical Engineer

Othniel has worked with 12 different clients across multiple industries over the last four years at Caliber. He is a creative powerhouse and is enjoying the challenge of developing and leading a training module on Concept Desing for our learning and development program.

JONATHAN BOUSFIELD, Technical Lead

Jonathan has been with Caliber for over 6 years, based in our Auckland office. JB is a highly talented engineer with more than fifteen years experience, gained by working across multiple industries on a multitude of projects.

AARON JOHNSON, Analysis Lead

Aaron started at Caliber in a design engineering role and has since progressed to Analysis Lead. Some of his career highlights to date include pioneering projects like amphibious vehicle prototyping and liquid hydrogen systems. Alongside his project work, Aaron is responsible for mentoring colleagues and enhancing the company’s analytics resources.

AARON GHATTAS, Technical Lead

Aaron arrived in NZ from Australia with an Aerospace Degree from RMIT, a few exceptional work opportunities and three years as a Technical Support Engineer for a number of airlines under his belt. In NZ, he worked in aerospace design, airworthiness, and aircraft maintenance at Air New Zealand for seven years, before joining us at Caliber.

JARROD POWELL, Technical Lead

Jarrod joined Caliber as a Technical Lead, a role that allows him to combine his exceptional people skills with a passion for solving complex technical challenges. Originally from South Africa, Jarrod has some great insights and tips for any engineers who are contemplating a move!

How Does the Recruitment Process Work?

  1. We encourage applications at any time.
  2. Shortlisted applicants are contacted for a casual 30-minute chat over Teams.
  3. If your skills and experience tick the right boxes, you’ll be emailed Caliber’s technical assessment.
  4. If the result of the assessment is pleasing, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview with one of our Regional Managers.
  5. References are checked.
  6. Employment options (contract or employee) are discussed.
  7. Offer made.
  8. Prior to starting you will be asked to complete a bio about your work experience (for the website).
  9. We have a 30, 60, 90 Induction journey mapped out for you. Day 1 is always in the office, where you will receive your Caliber clothing, hardware, software and all the information you need to equip you for your first project!
