CASE STUDY | Potato Chip Processing Line

Automac Engineering Limited specialises in the design and manufacture of conveyors and packaging machinery used in food and beverage processing industries.

With the need to upgrade some existing equipment at a potato chip manufacturing facility in Auckland, Automac were approached to modify the potato chip packing line to allow for an additional packing station. Space restrictions were tight and a cost-effective solution was required within a tight time frame.
After taking a series of site measurements and discussing potential layouts with the customer, we arrived at a solution. Our Caliber design engineer was then responsible for designing a couple of reversible belt conveyors, procuring parts, and overseeing manufacture. He then worked directly with an external team of fabricators to arrange install and commissioning at the client’s site.
A fast and successful install, completed within the customers tight time frame. The equipment has continued to perform well since installation.

Caliber Design was seconded to work with Automac for over a year on a number of projects, forming a core part of their design team. Our engineer was involved with plant layouts, scoping, concepting, detailed design, procurement, overseeing manufacture, and site visits to verify installs.

Using the Caliber Seconded Engineering service, Automac were able to increase the manpower in their design office with an engineer who could hit the ground running and provide well-engineered results.
