Defining requirements at the start of a project is an essential step in developing a new product.

We recently came across a very good article from the Silicon Valley Product Group about writing a good Product Requirements Specification. The process can be summarised as follows:

  1. Do Your Homework
  2. Define the Product’s Purpose
  3. Define the User Profiles, Goals and Tasks
  4. Define your Product Principles
  5. Prototype and Test the Product Concept
  6. Identify and Question Your Assumptions
  7. Write It Down
  8. Prioritise
  9. Test Completeness
  10. Sign Off PRS
