How did you get into engineering?

When I was a boy, I enjoyed pulling apart and fixing machines and electric gadgets. Some would say, I could speak to machines. My family would say all I do and talk about is Aaron’s ABCs, Aeroplane, Bikes, Cars and Sailing. Towards the end of high school, I had several people around me that were engineers or studying engineering and they inspired me into the career.

What do you enjoy most about mechanical engineering?

Constantly being fascinated with the complexity and detailed required to make our infrastructure and products. The simplest thing, like a computer mouse is not that simple after all.

Where / what did you study?

I studied in Melbourne Australia, at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) with a B.Eng in Aerospace.

What engineering experience did you have before you came to Caliber?

+10 years in aerospace design, airworthiness, maintenance, and related projects.

What makes working for Caliber different from the other engineering companies you’ve worked for?

The variety of work, the exposure to different industries, the continuous opportunity to call on your knowledge and resources for different applications, the focused nature of being a secondee.

Is there a particular project that’s been a highlight of your career?

Doing the tough jobs that many would shy away from.

What would you dream project be?

Designing my own offshore sailing boat for my family and having it built.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Ski touring and sailing. I could say fixing cars, boats, and motorbikes, that was once fun now it’s never ending 😉.
