Siddharth (Sid) is a seasoned mechanical engineer with experience across multiple industries. He is driven by a passion for crafting efficient and innovative machines. He has great communication skills and infectious enthusiasum.

  • DESIGN FOR CNC MANUFACTURING & FABRICATION – While designing a small component or a big machine, Sid always focuses on making the design easy to manufacture and fabricate, thereby reducing the cost and lead time to procure the parts required. He has shown this skill over and over with most of the clients that he worked for.
  • JIGS & FIXTURES DESIGN – Sid has a wide variety of experience in designing jigs and fixtures for manufacturing and assembly of parts and assemblies in a wide range of industries including CNC machining, medical devices, electronics, and space equipment. Understanding the unique requirements of handling different materials and products, Sid can provide a creative solution for a challenging problem.
  • PRODUCT & MACHINE DESIGN – By understanding the requirements of the end user Sid can develop a product, best suited for the application, his recent experience at Rocklabs is an excellent example of how he turned the requirements for mining sample preparation into an automated machine.
  • ENGINEERING DOCUMENTATION – As a draughtsman at Accord Precision which is a CNC manufacturing company in Auckland, Sid has gained experience in maintaining Engineering change documentation, Quality control documentation and Standard operating procedures for the assembly of critical healthcare products.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

As a highly skilled mechanical engineer with a passion for designing efficient and sustainable machines, I have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, having completed my graduate diploma from the Manukau Institute of Technology. I specialise in using SolidWorks to design machine parts and manufacturing drawings.

My excellent communication skills make me an effective liaison between the management and production staff, enabling me to resolve design issues in a timely and effective manner. With a strong interest in machines and mechanisms, I designed an eco-friendly thermoelectric refrigerator and an eco-friendly pump and electricity generator, earning recognition in the form of a Best Project Award and publication in the International Journal of Science Technology & Engineering, respectively.

In addition to my work, I enjoy swimming and exploring the great outdoors through camping and bush walks.

Project Experience

Standard Flyable Bridge

MONKEYTOE

Modular Flyable Bridge Design

Worked with the R&D team at MonkeyToe on an innovative project to develop a modular, lightweight aluminium trail and services bridge. Responsible for the complete 3D modelling of the bridge, including multiple configurations with varying widths and lengths. Generated production-ready BOMs and performed detailed draughting for all bridge sizes, including exploded views to support efficient manufacturing and assembly. Contributed valuable design insights to improve manufacturability and scalability. The bridge was uniquely designed to be completely factory-built with no welding, making it ideal for rapid deployment. Its lightweight construction enabled it to be airlifted and installed in remote locations, earning it the distinction of being a “flyable bridge.”

AEROSPACE PROJECT

Jigs, Fixtures & Tooling Design

Assisted with tooling design for aerospace project. Improved design of jigs and fixtures. Designed fixtures for manufacturing and assembly of high voltage battery systems. Redesigned the composite bonding jig which significantly reduced operator effort and increased production of the composite casings.

Accord

HAMPDEN

Designed customized entry and exit gates for high security data centre. Worked on gate automation for various sites. Created installation drawings with information showing off-the-shelf components or designed components for the gates. Created fabrication drawings showing in-depth details of the components to be made in the workshop before installation.

Temple Water

TEMPLE WATER

Design and Draughting

Temple Water Technologies offers tailored water treatment solutions backed by over 30 years of experience, ensuring clean, clear water that meets New Zealand’s drinking water and dairy company standards through scientific methods and custom-engineered systems. I provided Temple Water with comprehensive 3D modelling services for water treatment components and piping, tailored to their plant constraints. Additionally, I produced detailed draughting work to facilitate the assembly of plant machinery, including designing skid frames for pumps, blowers, tanks, and other equipment, as well as enclosures for weather protection.

Hairspace

HAIRSPACE

Research & Development

Hairspace aims to automate haircutting with machine vision and tracking technology. I worked with the research and development of their existing patented technology to turn it into a more user friendly, compact, and easy to use product. Designed casing and mounting solution for the 3d sensors of the device which helped to understand the location of the device with respect to the head of the user.

Rocklabs AD3000 machine
Jigs, Fixtures, Chamber & Tooling Design

ENL is New Zealand’s premier marine electronics company. I assisted the R&D team with tooling design of the new compact transducer for smaller boats. Designed Jigs and fixtures for production and assembly of the new transducer. Solved the challenging problem of gripping the curved casing of the transducer on specific areas, while protecting the electronics and allowing access to the operators to do the assembly. Also designed a custom size vacuum chamber for curing the transducers after potting the electronics with polyurethane.

Eco-friendly pump & electricity generator

UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI

Eco-friendly Pump & Electricity Generator

An off-grid project that aims at pumping water without electricity from flowing water bodies like rivers or canals to the nearby areas and also generates a small amount of electricity. I designed components, modified the parts as per requirement, and fabricated the final product. This work was published in a paper:  ‘International Journal of Science Technology & Engineering‘ pages 424-427.

Rocklabs AD3000 machine

ROCKLABS

AD3000 machine

I worked alongside Rocklabs to upgrade their AD3000 machine by designing and integrating an X-ray Flux dosing system. By automating the process of accurately dosing X-ray Flux onto powdered rock samples, we improved efficiency and precision in the sample preparation for mining research. The integration streamlined operations, reduced human error, and provided reliable data for analysis. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in sample preparation equipment for the mining industry, offering cost-effective solutions and accurate results.

Accord

At Accord, I’ve contributed to a range of projects for Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, focusing on designing manufacturing and assembly drawings for innovative products such as oxygen manifolds, valve fittings, CO₂ fittings, and Airvo NHF accessories. A standout achievement was redesigning the Coiling Jig to optimise assembly and packaging, eliminating friction in rotating components. I’ve also developed custom jigs and fixtures for CNC machines, significantly reducing machining time and improving part quality. Beyond design, I created detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that streamlined assembly processes, reduced errors, and boosted productivity. Additionally, I led the successful migration of the Engineering Change process from paper-based to a cloud-based approval system, enhancing efficiency and saving time and resources.

Omni-directional steering system

MANUKAU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Omni-directional Steering System

Designed a steering system using Solidworks for a vehicle with 4 wheels that enables transition between three different configurations – front wheel steering, crab steering, opposite steering. I also designed various components, mainly gearbox, for switching steering modes and assembled the components.
