SIMON HALL
IT Manager, based in Auckland
Simon has been with Caliber since 2017. In that time, he’s worked with over 14 different clients around the country, on projects ranging from an orangutan habitat to an automated bag drop for an airport, to a machine for sorting aggregate at a mine.
When asked about what it’s like working with so many different clients, Simon says he enjoys the breadth of experience that he gains, and the mix of design work with clients and management work within Caliber ensures he’s always challenged. There’s been scope for him to lead client projects, work autonomously, and mentor others. Simon wears the additional hat of Caliber’s IT Manager; taking responsibility for our hardware, software, and IT infrastructure.
As well as his responsibilities at Caliber, Simon demonstrates his dedication to advancing the engineering profession through his involvement in Engineering NZ. He was elected to Fellow of Engineering New Zealand in 2019, has served on committees, chaired branches, and is the current Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Group and representative on the Engineering NZ “Engineering Practice Advisory Committee”.
Simon is a perfect example of an engineer who rolls his sleeves up and gets things done … we’re lucky to have him as part of our team.
My role has progressed in the time I’ve been with Caliber and there’s room for more progression as Caliber grows and develops. Engineering is a constantly changing landscape and strategically we need to be ahead of the curve. So, there’s potential future lead/manager roles which we haven’t conceived of yet.
