PERSONAL STATEMENT
Growing up on farms, I have been pulling things apart and fixing them since I can remember.
I started working in a Diecast factory setting machines, before working my way into the toolroom and then into a design office where I studied engineering at night school.
After transitioning the company from 2D AutoCAD to SolidWorks with a standalone CAM system, I moved to Australia in the early 2000’s to get involved in the Automotive industry in Melbourne. I worked for a few Tier one suppliers before moving into aerospace tooling/heavy machining after the GFC. After progressing to managing the CAD/CAM office, I decided to go out contracting to get back to my roots in design. Since then I have primarily worked on special purpose machines and taking prototypes into production with an emphasis on design for manufacture.
After covid and the lockdowns, we decided it was time to move back to New Zealand to be closer to friends and family.
Project Experience

Forestry Processing Equipment
Working with the design team on a sawmill refurbishment project, design and detailing new equipment based on 3D scans of the existing plant. Secondment was hybrid of in-office and remote.

Rollforming Machines
Working with the design team to increase capacity in a hybrid secondment of in-office and remote. Designed and detailed various components of Panel Mill Rollforming and Purlin Mills. Upgrading current designs for automation, better manufacturability and increased handling capacity. Providing support for machine shop and assembly as required and assisting sales with renders of proposed designs.

Robotic Welding Cell Jigs
Design and detailing of welding jigs for Ute Canopies and auxiliary equipment. Working with Robotic Welding Cell supplier and management team to deliver jigs that would be repeatable and have take-up allowances for welding distortion as found in current processes. Secondment was hybrid of in-office and remote.
INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES GROUP
Automotive “End of Line” Testing Equipment
Mechanical design of special purpose machines for the testing and calibrating of vehicles after assembly. Machines would adjust for wheelbase and center the vehicle where necessary prior to testing with a tack time of around 20 vehicles per hour. Various machines designed including: dynamic wheel alignment, headlight aim, ABS testing/calibration, speedometer calibration, ADAS calibration, and climatic dynamometer.
NOONAN INDUSTRIES (NZ & AUS)
Special Purpose Machines
Design, modeling, reverse engineering, layout drawings, CNC programming, supplier sourcing, 2D to 3D migration, and fill-in services.

Remote Design Support for Airport Infrastructure
Working remotely to support both the Auckland and Wellington branches. Design and detailing of general airport equipment and inground pit box for electrical/air supply for a new factory.
Z-FILTER PTY LTD
Mobile Dewatering & Filtration Machine
Taking an existing prototype special purpose machine for slurry dewatering and “productionising” the design with an emphasis on ease of assembly and maintenance.
