    PERSONAL STATEMENT

I love engineering because it’s about turning ideas into practical solutions that make a real difference. As a mechatronics engineer, I enjoy tackling challenging problems and finding smart, simple ways to solve them.

Outside of work, I like to stay active with calisthenics and hiking, and I unwind with a good book or by dancing. I enjoy connecting with people, sharing a laugh, and letting my curiosity guide me in both engineering and everyday life.

    Project Experience

Foot Science International Water Filter System

    FOOT SCIENCE INTERNATIONAL

    Water Trap Filter

Building on the client’s existing concepts, William designed and delivered a set of targeted filter upgrades to meet the brief. The main filter was re-engineered to simplify carbon media replacement, reducing servicing time and eliminating unnecessary mess. The pre-filter was redesigned with a removable lid, allowing fast change-out using readily available local elements.

To protect the system upstream, a water trap was introduced to capture sticky dust and fines before they reached the extractor. A rapid prototype and trial confirmed the approach, after which a robust boxed unit was developed with easy clean-out access and a purpose-built trolley to support safe draining and refilling. The result is a cleaner, more serviceable extraction system that improves uptime, lowers operating costs, and extends filter life.

    GBV

    GLOBAL BEACON VENTURES

    Hydrogen Electric Vehicle (HEV) Program

Embedded within GBV’s hydrogen-electric vehicle team to deliver robust, manufacturable mechanical design for their second HEV truck. Responsible for the design and detailing of electrical enclosures and the associated mounting, compressor and ladder bracketry, with key structural items developed to AS 3990 and relevant NZ heavy vehicle requirements. Contributed across supporting systems including hydrogen fuel-cell air-exhaust mufflers and pipework, condensate management, and the battery-coolant reservoir tank, with a strong focus on service access, fabrication practicality, and clean interfaces between components.

    Cuddon Freeze Dry

    CUDDON

    Freeze Dryer Design

Assisted in the design of industrial freeze dryers, building on knowledge of P&IDs and piping systems with electrically actuated valves, and gaining experience bringing mechanical and electrical components together into a well-integrated system.

    EUROPEAN AEROSPACE COMPANY

    Drop Test Vehicle (DTV)

A development project for a drop test vehicle (DTV), providing a cost-effective mimic of the re-entry space vehicle for flight parachute system testing, along with ancillary equipment for assembly and road transport to the drop site. William designed the DTV heatshield and flooring and produced manufacture-ready drawings for key components for overseas production, covering key parts of the vehicle.

    TRIMAX project

    TRIMAX MOWING SYSTEMS

    Robotic Welding Fixtures

Designed and developed multiple welding fixtures ranging from fully mechanical to electro-pneumatic automatic systems, significantly improving fabrication efficiency. Implemented operational procedures—including preventive maintenance schedules, daily checks, and calibration routines—to maximize robot uptime and welding quality.

    Large-Scale Mower Development

Supported the design and manufacturing of the X-WAM S5, one of the largest mowers ever built (11.5 m wide). Contributed to design refinement and authored the manufacturing procedure to enable accurate and repeatable production of this large machine.
