OUR HISTORY

Caliber Design was founded in 2015 in the wake of two events that reshaped New Zealand’s economy: the global financial crisis and the Canterbury earthquakes. Both left businesses reluctant to take on permanent staff, creating a gap in mechanical engineering capacity.

Jonathan Prince, Caliber’s Founding Director, recognised the opportunity to provide flexible, project-based engineering support. From a starting team of five engineers, Caliber has grown to 60+, delivering for more than 200 clients across industries such as aerospace, food processing, agriculture, marine, hydrogen, packaging, and defence.

Ten years on, we remain committed to the same mission: enabling NZ engineering to deliver the best solutions in the world.
