Sustainable design has been a passion of our Director, Jonathan Prince, for decades. So he’s feeling pretty chuffed to now have a Sustainability Working Group at Caliber. Led by Design Engineers Paddy Carracher and Colin French, our team of representatives across the company have developed a plan to improve our approach to sustainability.

One of our values is “Do the Right Thing and Do Things Right”. As design engineers, we are in a critical position to make an impact on the way products are designed and manufactured. We intend to lead the way with this and look forward to supporting our clients to develop sustainable products and contribute to a sustainable economy and environment, and improved wellbeing.

While we develop our company sustainability aspirations, we’re inspired by others who are doing great things …

CRITICAL is an Auckland-based social enterprise that recycles hard and soft plastic waste into beautifully functional objects. Founded in 2013, the brains behind Critical are “entrepreneurs, inventors, dreamers and doers”. They’ve used these skills to develop a material that “looks like marble but performs better than wood”.

Founded by a Physio / professional athlete with a passion for sustainability and an Engineer with a passion for design, movement and mindfulness, the Limber “sit-stand-kneel system” is stunningly simplistic. Akina Certified, EKOS Climate Positive, these NZ Made desks are built to last (they even have a 10 year warranty!)
