HOW WE DELIVERED
Caliber’s partnership with Sheetmetals has spanned multiple projects over several years, providing extra design horsepower whenever workloads have peaked or project timelines demanded rapid turnaround. Rather than operating at arm’s length, our engineers embedded directly into the Sheetmetals team—picking up design packages, developing 3D models, and delivering manufacturing drawings that the workshop could rely on.
The scope of work has been broad. On the ADHB Central Plant Building & Enabling Tunnel, we supported design and detailing for staircases, balustrades, grating systems, stainless steel flues, and complex roof layouts. For the NZ Police Dog Base, our role centred on sliding gate design, while another engagement involved developing a custom cover plate for police interview rooms.
Architectural and commercial projects added further variety—producing fabrication drawings for feature metalwork at Commercial Bay restaurants, detailed designs for the Auckland Museum renovation, and release packages and site coordination for an office façade installation. In other cases, our contribution was focused drafting support: preparing compliant drawings for PS1 sign-off, generating detailed documentation for handrails and balustrades, or measuring on site to ensure fabrication accuracy.
Across all these projects, the common thread has been seamless integration with Sheetmetals’ way of working. Our engineers came up to speed quickly, delivered accurate outputs under pressure, and contributed not just in the design office but also on the workshop floor. Combined with Caliber’s wider network of expertise, this has enabled Sheetmetals to sustain quality and delivery across some of their most complex and high-profile jobs.
Theaan came up to speed quickly and produced good quality models and drawings. He was proactive in finding ways to contribute both in the design office and in the workshop. His reporting was good and he had great attention to detail.
