Drake is an accomplished mechanical engineer with years of experience in the aerospace industry, working on complex thermal-fluid components and solenoid thrusters, with additional experience in market analysis. - ANALYTICAL MODELING – Drake is driven to make processes more efficient and frequently makes analytical models to run calculations or organise data to provide additional insight. His models have been used to drive company decisions regarding product repair forecasts for aircraft component returns. Drake not only makes models with detail but ensures they can be easily used by the greater team.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am an experienced mechanical engineer with a background in the aerospace industry. I’ve worked on propeller governors for turboprop engines, solenoid thruster valves for spacecraft, fuel metering valves for turbofan engines, and other hydraulic valves for turbine engines.
Over this time, I developed a need to understand not only the components I was working on, but the whole system. This drive to understand the levels above and below my product enables me to make more informed decisions when designing. My desire for greater knowledge also motivated me to complete my Master of Science in Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Additional experience in marketing analysis has given me a greater ability to make analytical models and communicate them to different levels of an organisation. Overall, my goal is to use a hands-on system level approach to design products that positively impact the lives of others.
Project Experience

AEROSPACE COMPANY
Solenoid Product Line Support
Provided engineering solutions during the development of a new solenoid thruster platform and accompanying production line. Worked hands on in a production line and updated tools and processes for critical assembly steps to achieve better first pass yield. Worked under tight project deadlines and regularly interacted with the end customer.
New Process Validation
Created a test plan and personally ran testing to prove out new order for process steps, eliminating a lengthy magnetic anneal process which saved weeks of lead time on critical parts. Wrote detailed report documenting findings from testing and shared with the customer.
PAPER TOWEL DISPENSER COMPANY
Prototype Drive Mechanism
Designed a new drive mechanism for a hand operated paper towel dispenser. Made prototype parts and built a prototype model. Determined test procedure and ran tests to validate reliability of new drive mechanism.
