ELECTRICAL & CONTROLS ENGINEER
Skills Overview
Experienced and EWRB-registered Electrical Engineer with a strong background in marine and oil & gas industries, specialising in power system analysis, electrical design, automation, and commissioning. Proven leadership as Electrical Design Team Leader, overseeing engineering teams and managing complex electrical/PLC/HMI projects. Skilled in power distribution, generator synchronisation, electrical studies, and compliance with AS/NZS, IEC, and DNV standards. Adept in tools like ETAP, AutoCAD, and EPLAN, with hands-on experience in both fieldwork and technical documentation. Recognised for a diligent, solutions-focused approach in high-stakes environments.
-
POWER SYSTEM ANALYSIS – Natt has extensive hands-on experience in power system analysis, including load flow studies, fault analysis, voltage drop calculations, protection coordination, and relay settings. He has applied these skills across both high-voltage substations in the oil & gas industry and complex marine electrical systems. Proficient in industry-standard tools such as ETAP and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
-
ELECTRICAL DESIGN – Natt brings strong expertise in electrical design across marine and industrial sectors, with a focus on both high- and low-voltage systems. He has designed complete electrical systems including power distribution, generator synchronisation, motor control, PLC/HMI automation, and protective relays. His work spans from concept development and control philosophy through to detailed design. His designs are backed by field experience, allowing him to create solutions that are both technically sound and easy to commission.
-
ENGINEERING DOCUMENTATION – He has in-depth experience creating single line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, P&IDs, cable schedules, I/O lists, load lists, and bills of materials for both marine and industrial applications. Using tools like AutoCAD and EPLAN, he ensures accuracy, clarity, and compliance with AS/NZS, IEC, and DNV standards.
-
MARINE – Extensive experience in marine industry, including the design and commissioning of electrical and automation systems for superyachts, and electric vessels. Responsibilities have included power distribution, generator synchronisation, shore power seamless transfer, motor and drive integration, and development of PLC and HMI-based control systems.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I’m a seasoned electrical engineer with a passion for solving complex power system challenges—whether it’s behind a desk or out in the field. My experience spans power system analysis, detailed electrical design, PLC and HMI programming, fault-finding, and commissioning, giving me both technical depth and practical know-how to bring to every project. Before joining Caliber, I honed my skills in Thailand’s oil & gas sector, working with MV and HV equipment in high-reliability substation environments. After moving to New Zealand, I transitioned into the marine industry, designing advanced electrical and automation systems for superyachts. Known for my honesty, hands-on approach, and strong work ethic, I’m driven by a genuine love for engineering.
Project Experience
ATTEST MARINE
Electric Vessel
Led electrical design and system integration for an electric vessel, including power distribution, complex PLC programming, detailed HMI design, electric propulsion, and MW energy storage system. Conducted electrical studies such as load flow and fault analysis to ensure performance and compliance with DNV standards. Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams and supported on-site testing and commissioning.
60m Perini Navi
Fault-finding and commissioning of the main switchboard, generator, shore power unit of a 60m Perini Navi superyacht. Integrated shore power management using DEIF units to ensure seamless power transfer and system reliability. Performed comprehensive power system analysis and fault finding to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues, enhancing overall vessel performance and safety. Worked closely with the marine engineering team throughout design, installation, and commissioning phases.
39m Vitters
Led the installation of a load shedding PLC, and upgraded motorised breakers to improve power management and system reliability. Managed the disassembly and reassembly of onboard generators as part of a comprehensive power system overhaul. Integrated shore power control using DEIF PPU300 units to optimise power transfer and monitoring.
PTT
Onshore Compressor Substation
Involved in design, construction, and commissioning of a 22kV/400V substation. Responsibilities included developing detailed electrical design packages, specifying major equipment, and ensuring system integration from high-voltage intake to low-voltage distribution. Conducted comprehensive electrical studies and power system analysis. Actively involved throughout the project lifecycle—from concept and design through to site installation, testing, and successful commissioning.
