Our hunt for a new Business Development Manager is over!

If you follow us on LinkedIn, you may have noticed that we’ve been advertising for a Business Development Manager for some time.

It takes a special person to work at Caliber. We look for technical skill and experience. We are known for employing the “cream of the crop”. But human skills, and values that align to our company values, are equally important. Applicants have to pass the renound “good bugger” test.

So it’s with great excitement that we introduce Julie Hoareau. Julie comes to us from Toulouse in France. She completed her Masters in International Trade and has experience with Airbus, the French Space Agency, and spent 5 years developing the business of a FEA consultancy.

Her skills, experience, attitude, and values make Julie a perfect fit for Caliber. She’s come to the role brimming with ideas and motivation to support our clients with their projects. Nau mai Julie, welcome to the team!

Here’s an introduction from Julie:

My name is Julie and I am from Toulouse, in the South West of France (home of Airbus and of the French Space Agency). I would tell you my last name, but it seems impossible to pronounce in English … Okay, it’s Hoareau, but I’ll give you a little tip: -eau is pronounced -o in French. Why do we make it so complicated, right?!

I am really happy and excited to have joined Caliber Design’s amazing team as a Business Development Manager.

After working for 5 years as a Business Development Manager in France, I flew to New Zealand. I travelled the country, picked kiwifruits for a living while the whole world was in lockdown, and I fell in love with your amazing country.

My interests

Although I always considered myself as a city person, NZ made me reconnect with the ‘nature lover’ side of me.

When I am not at Caliber Design, I enjoy seeing the world, getting out of my comfort zone, challenging my fear of heights, climbing New Zealand’s mounts and volcanos, working out and above all, singing.

My career

While studying International Trade and working as an intern in France, in Germany and in the USA, I understood that meeting and working with people from all horizons was what was going to drive me.

What better way to get all of that than to work as a BDM?! So, with that goal in mind, I started my career with a subsidiary of the French Space Agency, before joining an FEA engineering consultancy.

I got to work with customers and partners from all sizes, all industries, all with different challenges to face every day. My job was to understand them and to help them find the best and most sustainable solution. For that, I had a great team of engineers whose work talked for itself and without whom my job would not have had any meaning. I got to learn so much from them. What is an engineering consultancy without a great team of experts after all!

The main reason I joined Caliber Design is just that.

Tying up loose ends for everyone: a great team of engineers that are not only technically good and passionate, but that are able to adapt to any industry and solve any problem … leads to a great variety of customers, projects, and more things we can all learn from each other!

Looking forward to knowing more about you! Feel free to contact me on 021 774 286 or julie.hoareau@caliberdesign.co.nz.
